I am dieting now. I have gained about 70 lbs since taking medication. I was about 178 lbs before the medication and now I weigh 245lbs. My Mom and Dad want to do this with me. For snacks we are eating more fruit and veggies since I would eat potato chips and popcorn all the time every day. I would like to be at about 160 lbs or less. I decided to wait until my breath came back from the cigarettes to start exercising. And my breath has come back and I cannot put off my decision any longer to help myself be healthy. My Mom suggested we take Apple Cider Vinegar to help with the weight loss. It's helped somewhat. I was having gas more, so I think it helps with digestion. I want to continue with it.

Just wondering why it is so hard to lose weight being on psych meds. I lost 45 pounds and still need to lose more.

Congratulations for losing 45 lbs! I gained over 100 on AntiPsychotics and have barely lost 25 lbs! The A/P's make me so hungry! Welcome to MySupportForums. You might also check out the Schizophrenia forum as a lot of us with Schizoaffective post there too. The Schizoaffective forum is not too busy. Kit

When I was off medication I got down to a 114 pounds and was a size 0. I've been back on my meds for nine years now and ballooned up to 255 pounds. Now I'm 217 pounds and a size 1x. My diet and exercise could improve.

I'm currently on a diet. So far I've been losing about a pound a week. I've just been exercising and eating healthy.

On 50mg Quetiapine my BMI increased from 17 to 18. My dietary adviser was rather telling me about calorie richer additions I might consider.

Guess I'm lucky in that respect
