I’m think it’s easier said than done - living as a Schizoaffective, but recently it’s felt easier to live. I’m super stoked that there were days it seemed so smooth.

I thought I was headed for a mixed episode, but every time the insomnia, paranoia, voices, agitation, or racing thoughts start to get noticeable I just take a PRN before they get bad and I think I'll stay out of the hospital this way. I've been having to take them less and less over the past few days too so things are getting better

It's been a bit of a good and normal run of things. I haven't let my emotions run me today. It's been pleasant.

Hello everyone i am dealing with my sons schitzoaffective disorder. He went to the hospital on the psych ward for a months stay. I myself have schitzophrenia. Therefore i know what it is like. I was afraid they would put him on thorizine because Ive been on it too and I lost my mind I would say because of it. I say that because on it I felt weak and useless. The doctor called me after they put him on it and told me he was in a catotonic state. I knew that would happen, because it happened to me. He went after one of the nurses and tried to hurt her. my son has never tried to hurt anyone. I had pleaded with the staff not to give him thorazine. In my eyes they were the ones that were at fault. The nurse took him to court and got an order of protection, which I dont blame her for but now this will be on his record which he never had anything bad on it before.
If anyone knows of a different type of medication that could be used for schitzoaffective people please let me know.

There are tons of different medications. Usually a combination of medications. My mix right now is an antipsychotic and an antidepressant.

I've had some small minor changes! These are awesome. They include:

- feeling like I want to make goals
- feeling like I can do my goals
- choosing to do no makeup for a while
- trying to make small changes here and there to my living space
- making the goal to drink less water and tea

Hi. I’m not new to the forums. I usually post in the bipolar board but I’ve been told that I have schizoaffective disorder. Back in march I was having lots of voices telling me to hurt my friend. I love my friend. I finally had to go inpatient when I had plans to hurt another friend. Now on invega pills1.5 mg per day.. I think this is the lowest dose available. I am watching what I eat. The hunger is terrible! Hoping this thread picks up.

I’ve seen some posts where people sing the praises of Invega. I just started it myself about a week ago.

Had too much coffee today and was shaking. Tried to nap but it’s been 5 hours and I’m still a little wired.

Apparently I have paranoid schizophrenia, but I still struggle a ton with mood day to day. So I'll keep posting here in this thread.

I'm afraid I am getting to this very late, my apologies, but there are many different options for schizoaffective disorder. One of them is Abilify (aripiprazole), which is a very calming medication (for me at least), as I have been taking it for over 10 years now. Abilify is great for me too because it helps with my affective symptoms (the mood symptoms like depression). Anyway, if you haven't already found something that helps, hopefully this post will.
