Could be both. Schizoids aren't known to be the most social in the bunch. It would be nice to see this board a little more active though, as I am one.

I shouldn't diagnose myself, but I meet the criteria of schizoid personality disorder. I will keep in touch.

You should hop over to schizophrenia and psychosis-Roll Call. That is where everyone is. Its easier for everyone to meet up there and folks are really awesome, understanding and supportive.

Hey everybody! I meet all of the criteria for schizoid pd. I live by myself, have the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, i lack interest in sex and relationships, on 2 antipsychotics, keep to myself, and can't work. I feel i developed schizoid 10 years ago when i was 26 after having battled generalized anxiety disorder for 8 years. I was a loner growing up, but was extroverted enough to hide it. That's all.

I will keep in touch.

I have to admit I don't know what Schizoid Personality Disorder is. I've never been given a formal diagnosis... it's just assumed I'm depressed & so I'm fed SNRI's. Probably 15 years ago, while in the hospital, I was given an MMPI to complete. No one ever reviewed the results with me. But I did manage to get a copy of a one-page summary. One of the things that it suggested I was suffering from was "schizoid ideation". I still don't know what that means either...

Schizoid-like traits can occur in severe depression, but it's different from SPD because it can be alleviated when the depression is treated - like you've been so f*cking depressed for enough time that you don't care anymore and feel totally numb and disconnected from other people and life in general. Maybe this is what they meant? Basically that you were so depressed your were anhedonic (although they likely wouldn't have been able to tell at that time if you were suffering from SPD or major-depression-induced anhedonia)?

I don't even know if I'm even depressed any more. It's mostly numbness/apathy toward myself and others which is why I sometimes wonder if I'm schizoid, especially due to my inability to connect with people that has always been there.

Maybe you and I are apprentice schizoids still in training - we just need to take the last steps to finally become schizoid masters.

You are diagnosed Adespota - we will meet you in the Dagobah System to complete our training.

Adespota: "That place… is strong with the schizoid side of the Force. A domain of disconnection and apathy it is. In you must go."
The Skeezyks: "What's in there?"
Adespota: "Only what you take with you."

Hey, I am starting to fall under the impression that I may too be Schizoid... I was calling myself Avoidant, but it didn't seem to fit. Now I read Schizoid details and it fits better.

So, since SPD no longer exists (as in removed from the DSM), does that mean we're all cured?

Stabbing in the dark here as I've no idea if this thread will actually be looked at with any regularity.... but.... are Schizoid (and I guess Schizotypal... will get to that) linked with Schizophrenia? I say this as my most recent personality disorder assessments have brought up the above two traits... yet I have been cleared of both schizophrenia and psychosis.

Been removed from the DSM? Curious if there are international differences still going on then. In the UK as I mentioned with the above quote, they've linked it to me and this is as of Nov this year.
