Hi,

I'm new. I have Major Depression and Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia. I'm in the middle of changing Doctor's because the nurse who prescribes my med's prescribed two med's that interact and after almost six months of taking them together my chest started hurting. The pills taken together can cause cardiac arrest. I don't trust the nurse at all. Hopefully, by the end of this month I will have a new Doctor to go to. Preferably, a psychiatrist who is very aware of medications and interactions so something like this never happens again. I need a new therapist, too. The one I'm going to is really bad. He doesn't even know what Schizophrenia is. He was looking it up online when I was in session with him. Plus, I pay for an hour with him and he ends the session after twenty minutes.

Welcome Dawn!

That's really awful that the prescribing nurse messed up your meds, but I'm glad you are looking for a better prescribing doctor. I hope you are okay. And I agree that you would be better off with a different therapist as well. Hang in there. There are a lot of good doctors and therapists out there to help you. I hope you find a great fit with both.
Thanks for this!

I know exactly what you mean about short sessions. I wait three weeks to see the doctor, and only get ten minutes. At least my time with the therapist is spread out more, but I wish I knew what to say to him. I am going to write down some things, as others have suggested. Welcome to PC. Happy to have you here. I hope you find the right combination of meds and doctors.

The counselor just cuts me short. He gets paid for an entire hour but only spends twenty minutes with me. He's no good and I'm having a hard time finding a therapist that will take my insurance. Thanks for your warm welcome.

Hello dawn26,
I agree there are good professionals out there and there are some terrible ones. I wish you the best of luck with your new ones and hope you can find some support from peers and professionals alike.
