I've noticed that there are a lot of weekly chats going on for different things, but none for schizophrenia. Now I'm wondering why?! It's hard to live with schizophrenia and I think being able to talk to other people going through the same things would be very beneficial.

I was thinking about maybe starting a schizophrenia chat but I'm not sure how to do it. I also don't know if anyone would show up and tbh I'm still learning about schizophrenia myself. I just really think it would be a good idea to have a place where all of us can go to talk to each other, give each other support and learn to hopefully cope better.

I have DID and am thankful for the chats for DID, but that's not the only thing going on upstairs and I think learning to manage the schizophrenia is pretty important as well.

Would anyone be interested in a schizophrenia chat? If so would anyone else like to start one and if you don't want to start it, I will I just don't know how or when.

i agree. I would like a chat for schizophrenia. I am quite upset that there is not. I have noticed however that it would be difficult time wise for me to attend. If you do end up making a group can you try to schedule it so that it is not smack in the middle of the day.

I would LOVE to make a chat if people are open to it. And I don't work so any time day or night would work for me, I would try and get a time that would work for most and hopefully all that would like to join. Maybe I can still start one since I know you are up to it at least and hopefully in time more people will join...

Do I just pick a time and go in and open a new room? Is that all there is to it?

Probably just check with a moderator (sabby, Christina86) to see how to start a chat.

If there was a chat I would go. Besides my pdoc and a few close friends I don't have anyone but this board to talk to about this. It would be nice to get together and talk
Thanks for this!

It's not looking too hopeful for our schizophrenia chat... Haven't gotten a "No" yet though so still keeping the fingers crossed.

Hi Kris, I spoke with your earlier in a chatroom. Wow, if you do, please include me in. It is not me, but my Uncle who has it and he has it bad. I have dealt with it all my life, but always had my Grandma who lived with him and kept him medicated and somewhat in control of the illness. He does not think he is sick, he doesnt listen to me anymore, things are crashing. He has not had any meds since Oct of last year. I cant even talk to him anymore, he is so far out there. NO agency around will help, the sherriffs department are all aholes and I a m borderline of a breakdown. If you want I can tell you the tips I have for him and maybe you can have a few for me?
I am going crazy~

Has anyone ever asked your uncle to say what effect he felt the medications had on him? Could it be that he says he is not sick because he doesn't want to cope with how he is treated if he admits he needs help? If he felt he could get real help, help that he wants rather than what he feels someone else wants, might he then go for help? Maybe not; I'm asking.

why can't we just make our own room in the chats at a certain time on a certain day every week? I don't think that would offend anyone. We don't need it to be on the calender or anything. We just need to set a day and time.
