I hear things others dont. I hear voices in my head that tell me to "just do it." I'm sorry and u need to do this now. Its like being mentally raped 24/7. I have a doctors appointment on Wed. But i'm scared I will be commited if I tell them these things. I have so far been diagnosed with MDD and GAD. I have a major family history of Schizophrenia & Schizoaffective Affective Disorder. I can't hold a job, seems like everytime I get one, something goes wrong, or I can't handle the social interaction.

That's pretty much a snapshot of the 10 years prior to my SA diagnosis. I know a number of people (myself included) that are diagnosed but not committed. Trust me, you will thank yourself for the appointment later.

I was terrified before I went, for the exact same reasons you were. Heck, I held off mentioning the voices for months for fear of being committed. I'm glad I decided to say something, in the end. Good luck. ^_^

no they will not commit you unless danger to self or others. I am proud of you for going to go see the Dr. That takes great courage on your part. Also you hear the voices but know that they are not real and now you want some help. You should be extremely proud of yourself for doing this......Let me know how it turns out!!!!
Again.......very courageous!!!!

Well I had my Dr's appointment today. He has diagnosed me with Schizophrenia, and has started me on Thorazine. He told me that over the next couple weeks and months we will come to a conclusion of what specific subtype of Schizophrenia. He took me off Paxil, (all together) and Sinequan, and upped my dosage to 150mg of Wellbutrin twice a day, and 100mg of Thorazine (chlorpramzine). I have another appt with him on tax day, of all days! I'm feeling better now. Was really worried about getting admitted!
