The doctor told me they were looking for psychosis....

What does that mean? Is it the same same Schitzophernia?

If anyone could help that would be super.

Schizophrenia is a type of psychosis. There are several kinds of psychotic disorders and schizophrenia is one of the main ones. There is also brief reactive psychosis, delusional disorder, psychotic disorder NOS (not otherwise specified). They each have certain criteria that you must meet. Schizoaffective disorder is another type of psychotic disorder that has both a psychotic component and a mood disorder (depression or bipolar) part of it as well.
