Psychosis is a loss of contact with reality, usually including false beliefs about what is taking place or who one is (delusions) and seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations).
I'm not trying to offend anyone or bash religion, sorry i do I'm just trying to prove a point.

How is it that professionals decide what is psychosis and what is not. How is religion not consider psychosis? It's not fair to the people who have psychosis, who are you (doctors) to tell them what is right or wrong for believing in something they think.

People who are religious believe in something called god, I think all of you know everything about who god is not going waste my time or yours explaining. In my opinion religion is a false belief they are out of touch with reality but they're consider normal.

Why is it that people who have psychosis are consider not normal and are made to take medications for believing in something that isn't popular?

People who have psychosis do you think doctors believe you when you share your beliefs and tell them your seeing things or hearing voices? It's hard to have what you guys have I can relate, you guys shouldn't be treated like some weird human being.

I don't have psychosis but doctors have told I'm at risk because at times I think life isn't real it's just dream and I sometimes think I'm dead. I'm going tell my doctor that I believe aliens held me capture in their UFO , I was tortured and was made into their slave then released in the year 2093.

I'm not joking either...wish me luck, being diagnose with psychosis won't hurt me ! You hear me Aliens!!!

I do not know all the answers to the questions you seem to be asking. I've been diagnosed. I get by, well enough to be happy. I like my life. I don't see how it could improve. I need to maintain my life, that includes meds for me.

I salute thee!

I've asked that question too but no one seems willing to answer it (at least calmly anyway).

I think I agree with what you said but as you said...that's opinion. If religious beliefs help a person to get through life, then who am I to say that it's wrong. As for comparing religious beliefs to psychoses...I don't think I'm qualified to give an opinion on that and I doubt that anyone would be interested in hearing it anyway
I wish you the best in whatever it is you are going through.

Drs dont always believe religious people. I have experiences out of my body and have held hands with God and my T thinks i'm schizophenic because i hear voices, but the voices have nothing to do with my spiritual experiences. I think the voices are other parts of me actually.

I'm sorry for your pain. It sucks not to be believed. What was 2093 like?
Thanks for this!

They are not spiritual scientists, they can not tell someone that a spiritual experience they had was not real.
That's probably why so many people have not recovered from this illness because we are stuck in an experience that we are told is bad and needs to be medicated. We need someone to guide us through this, not tell us we are sick and need drugs.
We need more shamans and spirit guides. We need to get away from this "modern" medicine kick.
anyways I think I'm starting to rant.

"Social norms." Not saying it's right, but that's how they do it.
