I have BPD and have been told so. but those symptoms don't happen or don't bother me. its things similar to what i've read on here, from other people. Like radio voices and walls moving and things. People read my mind frequently, and my thoughts get stolen. i can't go into too much detail because people who know me might be reading this. I am scared. I think that these people who communicate with me are trying to coerce ending my life, making it look like its not their fault. I don't feel like doing this, because if i do, then they've won. I sorry if this triggers you i am just trying to find out what to do next? i hear/see/smell/feel these things when i feel good, bad and even just fine. i can't hold on to a thought long enough to think it. i don't self harm, i have a very balanced way of thinking (not black & white), i don't have many friend but i still get along with people. I don't know, maybe the doctor knows a secret about me and BPD is a way of covering it up? I'm trying to find an answer of these things and don't have anyone to talk to about it, even the doctor doesn't listen, despite weeks of assertiveness skills. I can't see what i can do?! thank you for reading

Hi, Alice,

It's a shame you're having these pains and these problems. Because your writing shows that you're a strong and capable person, despite what you may think. Are you really getting the help you need? You talk about the doctor. Is he or she a therapist or a psychiatrist? Are you on medication? Sometimes that helps a lot, you know.

Yes, other people do have symptoms as you describe them. And many of the sufferers do move along and progress and make their own lives worth living. You don't need to be a puppet on a string, you know. You do need the help of professional experts, but you can still live your own life in charge of yourself. Things can change. Things can get better.

If your doctor doesn't listen to you it sounds to me like he's not a T, but a Pdoc. Is that true? You do of course need a professional who listens to you. Do you know what kind of help is available to you in your present situation? If not, this is the time to find out. Just be assured that things really can get better if you have the right professionals with you and the right medication for your problem.

Take very good care! Ygrec

Thanks for your reply, yes my doctor is a psychiatrist and we get a very short time, but i have a social worker too, who i can chat to more, but it's always the whole "I can't do anything because I'm not the doctor". I think they are deliberate in being unhelpful because they know it bothers me. I am on meds and only increased them last week.

I had a 'second opinion' in hospital where i was very scared of the man who was talking to me. i only saw him for about 25 mins and i probably said 6 words the whole time. He said he'd be back the next morning tho speak to me but he never came back. Also he wasn't independent from the doctor i was seeing then.

If you mean borderline personality disorder for BPD, I think a lot of mental health people give this diagnosis, especially to girls or women, when they dont know what else to diagnose. I was diagnosed with BPD at 19 but no one I see now thinks thats correct. Your diagnosis may change as well. what does your social worker think? even if they cant offically diagnose they can still give insight into what they think is going on.

good luck!
Thanks for this!

You definitely are experiencing psychotic symptoms that exist, despite any mood fluctuations. I suggest seeing a psychologist or therapist, aside from your psychiatrist. Most psychiatrists are REALLY bad at diagnosis & are therefore bad at treating a disorder by themselves. You need someone you can empty your mind into; who will interpret how you are coping between these symptoms & reality. That person will TRULY get to know you & will be able to discern the causes of your issues in terms of yourself as a whole.
Thanks for this!
