I'm screwed. I'm out of my medication. I can't afford to have it filled, and the family insurance doesn't accept Walgreens anymore.

Without my meds, I'll spiral down into the abyss. I don't know where to get meds for a reduced cost.

Call the insurance and ask where they are being covered. You could also probably call cosco, sams, frys, krogers, target....cvs. (I forgot Walmart, too) Frys/Krogers covers a lot. CVS does too. Target and Cosco have 5 dollar prescriptions unless its cheaper already. ((TRY KROGERS/FRYS/WALMART first))

If you call the store, just ask the worker if ____________ insurance is covered. Should be easy enough for them to answer.

Just some suggestions.

Does your doctor have samples to carry you through until you get it sorted out?

If you are really desperate, try going to a Church, and explaining your situation. Churches will often help out people financially who are in a pinch. The priest/pastor or a volunteer may come with you to the pharmacy and pay for your prescription.

I would try a Catholic or United Church first. Look for Churches that are very involved in the community -- the kind that have soup kitchens, AA meetings, homeless shelters in the basement, that kind of place. These Churches will also have contacts with other organizations that can help you in the future to pay for your prescriptions.

When my mom was a starving university student with no place to stay, she walked into a Church, asked for help, and they just handed her $500 to put a deposit on a dormitory room. Just like that.

The spiral has started. In the past two weeks, the sheriff's department has been to my home looking for me. The second time was on Monday, the of my surgery. My pdoc called me that morning. We had somebody working in the backyard and after we left two deputies showed up looking for me. I think my pdoc thinks I'm dangerous.

You probably should do something about that.

You can also try contacting the pharmaceutical company that makes the meds. Some of them have programs to help people who are having trouble affording meds.
