So, I have been seeing a psychiatrist since October 2008. I originally went at the encouragement of my then pastor who said I seemed to be extremely suspicious of people and acting like people were out to get me. I also was hearing voices, but I didn't let anyone (finally let me old pdoc know) until a few months after I started seeing pdoc. I will admit, I have psychotic symptoms. My old pdoc dxed me with psychotic disorder NOS, my new pdoc seems to think I have schizoaffective. Either way I am being labled as "psychotic". Anyways, I've told my new pdoc when the voices started (middle of my college years) because he asked when (my old pdoc never asked this, so he never knew). That may have been why new pdoc's dx is different.

Anyways, I never really thought about it until recently, but I used to see things as a kid. I would go into my brother's room to ask him a question and would see demons hanging off the walls (dark shadowy figures). I would get scared and tell my mom. She was extremely religious and would tell me it was because I had strong faith and my brother must be sinning, so demons are around him. I believed that explanation as a child and never realized how weird it actually is until recently. Could this have been hallucinations as a kid? An overactive imagination? What? Is it something my pdoc and T should know about?

It could be either hallucinations or imagination. Have you had visual hallucinations since then? I think that the key question. If you still have visual hallucinations - especially recently - your pdoc and/or T might need to know.

It does give some insight into your mindset as a child and your family life. It might be worth discussing with your T from that point of view.
