Yeah it's really annoying when that happens. Have you tried drowning them out with music at bedtime? I find that helps. I put on some soothing music and drown them out until I fall asleep.

Hope that helps!

When I hear voices saying my name, I usually start saying it aloud myself. That usually shuts it up.

I get this literally ALL THE TIME. It is annoying. Two days ago I heard a voice calling me and then the next voice telling me "come here." I thought it was so real but when I went to my parents, they responded, "I never said anything!" I have this constantly.
Thanks for this!

I only get addressed by outside voices very very rarely... Once it was my name but in a really strange, booming voice which was obviously unfamiliar. I usually just get "psst", "hey", "over here" & those really weird me out. I'm always afraid that there's someone around, trying to sneak up on me, so that doesn't help by justifying my fear. GRR! :/

Outside voices are what seem to be called "true" hallucinations. I don't think you're the weirdo for having outer voices... From what I understand, I experience things that aren't quite normal. I have too much insight & most of everything just goes on in my head & nothing actually changes or happens, just my perception of it. I don't really know, either...

ok, that helps explain it. thanks
mine are outside voices when they call my name and I hear babies crying.
I hear people talking to each other from al alternate dimension but I hear those in a different muffled sort of way. like from behind a wall or something. just on the other side of the dimension. :/
the babies crying and people calling my name, SOUND very real but then I can look and see that they arent real.
The other ones I described, seem more unusual and I think theyre NOT real but then sometimes I wonder if I might have extra sensory perception.

Maybe I better take my meds. lol

yea im no doc or specialist but that doesnt sound like bipolar. you need to get rechecked out...just saying. i was bipolar one time until a doc misdiagnosed me im actually schizoaffective. and its not even the bipolar type either.

I only seem to go psychotic when I'm stressed too... But it often lingers for weeks/months after the fact. Bipolar doesn't seem to have any effect except those states may colour my experiences, if that makes sense.

Ya I think schizoeffective is more fitting as a dx in my case. Ive told my doctors but they dont wanna change the Dx. the meds would probably be different.
I do fine when I take Seroquel.

The Lamictal doesnt do much. kinda helps clear the fog a little.
prozac makes me forget everything but i take it anyway.

im so confused most of the time.
and have a lot of the negative symptoms of schizo.

i dont know what to do cuz honestly ive told and told my pdoc my symptoms and they just listen and prescribe the same ol thing year after year and im progressively getting worse.
every year im worse.
and im really tired of it.
cant do anything about it so its depressing to watch myself slowly slip away from me.

Wow, someone with the same symptoms I have, been hearing my name called for about 6 months now. Even to the point of being woke up 3 times in one night with my name being called, coming from the other side of the bedroom door. Have also heard conversations that sound like small children talking but it is very mumbled and I can't make out a single word. Pdoc has put me on seroquel, and told me my thoughts of the voices being spirits of relatives who have passed on, is pretty much childish.(thanks doc) Now the voices are screaming my name in my dreams and waking me up. Seems like instead of tapping at the door to get my attention, now they want to kick it in instead. Yay....seroquel!!
