I went to see my doctor today about the tension pain I have in my toungue and he suggested that I switch meds. I am going to go from 10mg Saphris to 200mg Serequel XR. Just have a few questions. What would be the equivalent dosage eg Saphris 10mg = Serequel 600mg >? Has anyone else switched meds from Saphris to something else?

just to let you know i was on 300mg seroquel and gained 80 pounds and almost got diabetes. i suggest another med or lower the seroquel beceause it can be dangerous. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. an imcompetent one put me on 300mg seroquel and i became clinically obese and almost got diabetes. when i changed doctors i realized i didnt need. it took me two years to lose the 80 pounds. and i still have joint problems from the weight. seroquel is known for fast weight gain. dont mean to scare you but do your research and retalk to your doctor.

My adopted son was on Seroquel (before he lived with me), and he's always been very lean. Different people have different reactions.

I love this site (I linked to the pages about seroquel): http://www.askapatient.com/viewratin...&name=SEROQUEL

I always read through it for any med my son or my mom takes. You'll see that for every med there are people who love it and people who hate it. I look for side effects that are mentioned repeatedly. Also note how long the person took the med, how old they are, their gender, and the reason they were prescribed it. There's almost always someone who had an extreme reaction. Try not to get too hooked on those; they're the outliers not the average. It's always good to know, though, if you have a certain reaction to a new med, if it's something other people have reported too.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your dosage question.

well, ive seen ALOT of people gain weight from meds. thorazine is a good medication but at high doses it cuases weight gain, i gained 70-80 pounds in a year on 6 and 7 hundred milligrams, but i was in great shape on 200mg. i exersice. but serquil is another weight gainer, as long as u dont take a high dose you shouldnt gain weight. clozaril is another good medication but u have to get blood test every week for 6 months. personally if i was taking seroquil i wouldnt let the doctor put me on over 200mg becuase of weight gain. read the side effects to your meds, do research before u start any new medication.

also if u plan on exersicing i wouldnt take too much seroquil becuase like thorazine it is ery sedative and its hard to do any cardio on that medication, ive been doing bodybuilding and lots of cardio for 7 years and when i got on 600 mg thorazine i couldnt do any cardio and when i lifted weights i got dizzy and almost passed out. so i had to stop working out untill my shrink lowered the dose.
