I get a lot of this paranoia that some type of monster is standing right behind me. It's especially true when I'm alone. I get that eerie feeling that it's right behind me, sneaking up and going grab me. I freak out and turn around and nothing is there. Sometimes I am really scared to turn around.

Or for example we keep the office door closed when we're not in there, also the bathroom door. As I approach the closed door, I get this feeling that it's standing right there on the other side, in the middle of the room, waiting for me. My heart races and i feely panic. I have to force myself to open the door, and then... nothing is there...

This has been bothering me very badly for about two weeks solid now. I feel watched all the time. But, not by cameras or anything. But that somethign is standing behind me, or just beyond the door. Watching me. Waiting for me....

Does anyone else have this happen and anything to help combat it? It scares me really bad. I want it to stop. I try logic and reality check "there is no way a monster is behind you, monsters are not real." But I still feel the feeling.

I have always had that feeling. If I have to go into a room alone or outside in the dark by myself, I will sing a silly song. It distravts me so I can do what I have to do. It doesn't help the after it is over anxiety. So, I hope someone else has some answers. I could use them too.

I always feel like something is gonna grab me when I walk into a dark room to turn on the light. I have since I was a kid. I've just learned to live with it. I know it's a phobia and it's an irrational fear. I know that there's nothing waiting in the dark bathroom or wherever waiting for me. Logically I know it. Rationally I know it but I have never found a way to conquer it. I have after many years learned to push it back. It's not so prevalent anymore that it keeps me from going into dark rooms. It's just always nagging at the edges.

Moral of this story is you are most definitely not alone. I wish I could offer something more helpful than that. I do think it gets easier
with time.

My 20 year old son is the same way. Him and I together could make a comedy team. He goes down the road about a half a block before it gets dark. When it gets dark, he calls me to meet him. I have a problem walking out there in the dark and he has a problem walking out there too. I wind up running to where he is at and he hasn't even moved an inch. Pitifyl

Thanks. I have always had it a little bit, especially in the basement when I do laundry. There is a big hole in the wall that goes under the crawl space. I always felt it worst there.

but now, it's all over the house all the time, even in bright daylight and not just at home, other places like outside... I know what you mean about running to a "safer" spot. Last night I had to put the clothes in the dryer before bed. I ran all the way up the stairs, into the bedroom and slammed the door like I was being chased. But even once I was safely in the room I still felt it... I lay down and my husband was already there laying down. I curled up next to him and stared at the door, waiting for the feeling to go away....

Good to know others feel this way if nothing else. Thank you!
