This thread in cyber ville is being monitored? This is a true statement? If I give resentments here, others will be the object of the negativity they create. Well, insult away in cyber ville. The intelligent folk are avoiding this faux city. It seems a cul de sac. I put energy in, it wants more energy. I'm getting a zero return on my cyber investment. I think I'm going to down size my investment, and return to Earth and momma nature. These compute cul de sacs', are putting people in a strange trance. I'm thinking maybe a Cult of APPLE.... Have Fun! Gotta go.
Thanks for this!

Everything is monitored.
The police hacked my Facebook a couple of months ago, didn't even give me a choice.

Yeah it was set to friends only and he said they were monitoring my posts and messages so they hacked it - I don't even think they were allowed to do that, but I was upset at the time - so I wasn't thinking of that.

I wish we could have trigger-iconed this. I'm really nervous about everything I do or say being monitored. I have a lot of proxies & adblockers & stuff on my computer already, but it never feels like enough. I feel like it's contamination OCD, but of my internet security. Awful.

What is that saying about the two most common things in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity? Not malice, not monitoring you -- just stupidity. How about thinking that about the world when it is doing things you don't like?

Are they smart enough to monitor you?

they want you to think they are stupid
they WANT you to subscribe to that concept.
but they are ACTUALLY SMART

if its in positivity or in negativity.

They DO monitor you: companies, government, etc. Not for malevolent reasons, outwardly. It's to profile who you are to advertise you things you may not otherwise want. For their own benefit. And to make money off of you. And to make sure you follow their ******** laws. Maybe I sounded a touch too paranoid earlier, but it IS true... But unfortunately this fact is very easy for your mind to twist & take advantage of. And I don't put it above such greed-inflicted people to log this information & eventually use it to take advantage of us. I don't really take kindly to that, paranoid or not. And they don't do it manually; they have computers logging & tracking information. Trust me. I used to look into working for the NSA until I decided for something different...

Yes -- but you don't have to go along with that. I find the efforts of those people to be amusing, because they think they know who I "am" -- and they don't!

Yeah, but unless you use complicated software to thwart their efforts, it's difficult to avoid. And even THAT isn't wholly foolproof. And if you're someone who primarily interacts via the internet & regularly pours their thoughts out online, I'd say someone could get pretty acquainted with you. The biggest culprit to tracking, however, is google. I suggest to everyone: don't use chrome, get an adblocking add-on to your browser (adblock plus is decent), & try to use duckduckgo as a primary search engine. Google, even if it's left in another tab, will keylog you & log your other tabs.

You know that big thingy of legalese that's called something like "Terms and Conditions" or "Terms of Use" or "Terms and Disclaimer"?? You have to sign one (or click "I agree" to one) every time you buy & use a new software or make a contract for internet services. They almost always say that you give your permission to have your data saved and monitored.

So yeah . . . they're monitoring you. Just, monitoring right now is pretty basic. They pick out key words you write a lot & they run them through a computer. They can't & don't have the technology to monitor most places generally -- that's why facebook and twitter (for example) make no warranty that you won't get harassed or threatened using their services & they don't take any responsibility to stop such behaviour unless you report it . . .

Even if google is monitoring me, they're pretty **** at it. I don't think it's any secret that I live in London but it always picks my location as Kiev, Ukraine and apparently it thinks I have a dire need for discount plumbing services.

ETA: And I buy a ton of stuff off Amazon -- mainly cookbooks, law textbooks and sometimes garments -- but it has f*ing bizarre recommendations for me. One time I bought all my textbooks and also a few sets of shoes and underwear and it recommended an American football. The best though was when I bought about fifteen cookbooks as presents, and it recommended a home enema kit.

Amazon mostly recommends books about sz to me - so I guess they have me nailed.

Here's what irritates me. I bank with ING Direct. And everywhere I go on the Internet now, I see ING Direct ads. I'm like, why bother aiming ads at me? I'm already a customer.

is this the place?

Hmmm... I guess they also have me pegged - accurately - as a reader of cozy murder mysteries.

i would give anything to hear at least ONE of my parents say that.

do you realize how many parents with young people with schiz not only dont understand which is understandable but also dont care and/or take the the time to understand. it makes things worse.

I'm obviously just too unique to be pinned down.
Most of my ads are for the Green Card lottery. I started getting them in Arabic even!
