Has anybody here been on Saphris? My P doc says it might be an option if my Zyprexa is causing diabetes. I have a blood test later this week to see where my blood sugar is at. The Zyprexa works but it has caused me to gain weight. My P doc says Saphris might have less of a metabolic side effect. Does anyone have experience with is med?

My daughter takes Saphris for bipolar. It has been a miracle for her. She could not tolerate the 'regular' flavor. So now she takes the black cherry. It was stll pretty strong, but after a few days she got used to it. Both varieties of Saphris are put under the tongue and have to dissolve. It takes about five minutes or so. Then you can't drink or eat anything for about 10 minutes afterwards so it gets into your system like it's supposed to. She feels SO much better on the Saphris than without it, that she doesn't mind putting up with the hassle of disolving tablets that don't taste wonderful . And best of all, it's one of the few anti-psychotics that does not have problems causing weight gain.
