Anyone seen Of Two Minds?

Movies about Schizoprenia

its about two sisters and one of them has schizophrenia. its really powerful - sad - dramatic. pretty realistic because theres nothing really over the top. its honest about the positive and negative symptoms that schizs go through. i think its a lifetime movie.

yea i do too i never rewatch the movies about schiz. its too much. most times i have to watch in 2-3 parts too. cause it hits home.

but what i liked about this one was it finally showed a female with it instead of a man.

I never promised you a rose garden.
the book is better than the film. It is the book i read that made me realise i wasnt right, because i was so similar to Deborah. It stopped me killing myself, because i read it and i thought 'if she can get better, so can i' because no-one ever really talked to me about mental illness before.

Only one I can think of is Nightmare in a Damaged Brain - saw it so long ago though and it kind of sucked - it's more of a horror movie though.

There is that one with Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. called The Soloist. It was really good, and could be a true story. Jamie Foxx is a homeless guy who is an amazing musician, and Robert Downey Jr. is the guy trying to help him get off the streets, but not really understanding of how schizophrenia works. I thought it was pretty good and showed how a lot of people think they can be the hero but don't take time to understand what they are dealing with.

I thought it was really well done.

The other one I really like about schizophrenia is The Saint of Fort Washington, which is one of my all time favorite movies. It's older, was made in 1993. It stars Matt Dillon and Danny Glover. Matt Dillon is a young man with schizophrenia who ends up homeless because his home gets torn down. He meets Danny Glover who is an older homeless man who then kind of becomes his mentor and father figure, taking care of him on the streets. It's an amazing film and very dramatic and sad. I think it does an excellent job showing how dangerous and hard it is to live on the streets. But also shows incredible love and compassion despite living in a hopeless situation.

I was just a kid when I first saw The Saint of Fort Washington, and even then I sat through the whole thing and loved it. That's really my first "grown up" movie that I saw, I think.

How about Angel Baby (Angel Baby (1995) - IMDb) and Frances (Frances (1982) - IMDb)?

I've never watched either of them, so I don't know if they're any good.

Here's the trailer for that movie I was talking about the other day.
It is more about psychosis in general although it does portray many things about schizophrenia etc. like hearing voices.

It was a TV mini series back in the '70's. My parents didn't censor my TV/movie watching at all and it gave me nightmares. You may be able to find it on DVD or something. Book is also quite good and it's based on a true story: Sybil.
