I'm just wondering if psychotic depression is depression with psychotic features such as hallucinations or delusions. If you have delusions but not hallucinations, is this psychotic depression? You only need to have one out of the two for it to be PD? Also, can there be episodes where it's only depression and episodes where it qualifies as psychotic depression?

You can have depressive episodes with psychosis and a year after have another one but without psychosis. There is not need to have both hallucinations and delusions, actually, you may have psychosis depression without any of both, it could be psychotic depression with deorganized psychotic symptoms or catatonic symptoms.
