My family kept urging me to go see a psychiatrist & I've always told them that I don't need to. The things I do might be strange looking to my family, but that's only because they aren't part of the big picture that I am.

Anyways, I'm really confused right now. The doc diagnosed me with paranoid schizophrenia & he said prescribed abilify for me to take every day (half a pill) I don't even know what to think about any of this, I just don't know that I can ever accept this. It doesn't seem right to me. I keep thinking that someone must have made some mistake, not me. I am not a bad person, okay? The doc only told my mom the dx (that seems strange), so at this point I'm not thinking about it. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

Also, has anyone else taken abilify, is it dangerous?

remember me?!
holy crap i prob know who the doc is too.
shoot.

i took abilify but cant remember all the effects as it was paired with seroquel. but i gained weight on abilify. but its suppsed to not do that. half a pill isnt much either. i was on 10-20 milligrams of abilify.

i hope you have something going in life. school/work/anything cause once i got the dx my life turned upside down.

I don't think having a psych dx makes anyone a bad person.

You're the same person before dx as after dx you just have a new label. Abilify is great compared to some of the other meds. It's got a low risk of weight gain and diabetes compared to them. It doesn't make you sleepy or cause lactation or anything weird. Half a pill is a small dose don't be surprised if they increase it up to 10mg or more. I will say that everyone has a different reaction to the meds so don't be surprised if you have to switch a couple of times.

No psychiatric diagnosis inherently makes someone a "bad person".

I've been on abilify before, it worked reasonably well when I was a teenager but I tried it again as an adult and it caused me severe panic attacks and insomnia so I couldn't stay on it. But, I've seen that med help a lot of people too.
