why do mental health professionals (mainly)?treat me the way they do?

Any professional that treats you like a baby is a bad provider. A good provider is one who would take time to understand your stresses and symptoms, and then treat you as an adult who is struggling.

There are physical medical doctors who also treat their patients like their babies or dumb, so this is not a mental health problem only. Many providers get that "god complex" where they think they know everything. I find the more a doctor behaves that way, the less they actually do know.

I'm sorry you have someone treating you like that. It's not right.

yup. totally agree. i actually work with a doctor who has that god complex. and he gets fired by patients all the time. our medical director on the other hand takes the time to listen to people and is open to suggestion, and i've never seen a patient fire him once.
