I take risperdal for bipolar, not for schizophrenia. I have always liked composing for a hobby, and recently went back to school to study it. I have run into a problem. My ability to hear music in my imagination is practically nonexistent. After about two years of school it hasn't improved, while my fellow students and teachers clearly can hear much more in their imaginations than I can.
I am always buzzing with thoughts but I recently realized that I mainly sense them through feeling the subvocalization in my throat. As far as sound in my head, it is very quiet. No sound, no audible verbal thoughts, and no music. Or at least the sound is very quiet and distant. I suppose this could be peaceful, but it is starting to bug me that I can't hear music. Does anyone know if antipsychotics can affect a person this way? I do know that a lot of artists and musicians complain about the drugs killing their creativity. That might be a factor, too, in my case, although I still feel able to compose if I use a piano or computer to help me hear the sound. Mike |

I also took it for bp. It put my brain on mute. At first it was lovely, no more aggressive negative voices screaming at me, but I missed the music, imagination and buzzing thoughts. I had zero creativity while I was medicated, so I'm not at all suprized its blocking your ability to hear the music...

This is one of the best questions I've seen on here. To be honest, i dont really know but before risperidone, I had the same thing and now it seems to be gone although im not really sure yet i was just always imagining myself as a techno artist before this.
