Greetings. I have hallucinations and I might say hello 2-3 times. Often I would just like freeze and stop moving and almost stop thinking. I am sometimes over-emotional, eg when I want chicken and my mother cooks soup I go to my room and cut my thigh (so that nobody notices). Sometimes I show zero emotion even when I am happy or sad. On top of all that my best friend framed me and made me lose a maths competition. I believe I need help but I am too afraid to tell my family, what if they call me crazy? AM I CRAZY? Please tell me what to do.!.!.!.! Please!!!!!???,!,? Other people on the internet said that its didorganised schiphrenia Is it true?

You cannot know what is wrong until you allow a qualified professional diagnose you. I would NOT jump to the conclusion you have schizophrenia. Please tell your mom or another adult in your family or at school and let them help you. You shouldn't have to feel like this. I hope it gets better soon.

You sound like you need help and a psychiatrist can help you with a diagnosis. So first, a lot of people have voices but aren't necessarily schizophrenic....about five percent of the population hears voices so you might be OK. I'm more worried about the cutting, there is a self injury forum here where you might get more help. Are you having visual hallucinations? One possibility is if anything really traumatic has happened like a death in the family you could have a brief psychotic disorder. It's impossible to tell without more info however if you had a physical illness you would go to the dr to get help right? It's the same thing with a mental illness.

Thanks for answering. No, nothing too bad (like the loss of a family member) has happened to me but I still feel very messed up. I know I need to go to a doctor but I find it really scary to tell my parents how I feel.

Hi,

As other people have said, don't worry about a diagnosis now. It can be really hard to make sense of symptoms from the inside, not to mention scary! Hopefully you can find a professional who can help you make sense of things. And people on the internet cannot diagnose you.

The most important thing is your safety. Is there anyway in your life you feel safe talking to this about? If you have a doctor, do you think you could bring it up with them? It sounds like you're in school, so you probably have a school health nurse or guidance counsellor to turn to if you'd be comfortable doing that. Either way, I know it's scary, but you need to let someone know so you can get help and start feeling better.

As for self-harm, I know it's a release, but try and make a list of things you can do OTHER than that that are distracting and might direct some of that harmful energy away from you. Make the list when you aren't in crisis, use it when you are. For example, sometimes I like to do situps, because it releases the manic energy I want to put into self-harm. I like to take showers because it's a full body physical sensation that's distracting. I listen to rainymood.com for a auditory calming distraction.

And if you do self-harm again, don't beat yourself up over it, just accept that it happened and try to prevent it from happening again. Make sure you practice aftercare and use antibiotic cream.

I really hope things get better for you, and I hope this is helpful. If we can answer anything more for you please just ask.

Thank you for your replies, I will first try dealing with the self harming as it seems to be a big issue.

First, there is no such thing as "crazy". It's an unfair word and just completely wrong. We just need a bit of help sometimes. Being able to admit it is the farthest thing from crazy.

I really hope things start to get better for you soon. Do you have any one in your family that you can talk to privately? Maybe not tell your WHOLE family, but just this one person? When ever I was in trouble when I was younger I always told my aunt before I'd tell anyone else. Or a school counselor maybe?

If you have no one in your family you can trust, go in to see your regular doctor. Privacy law is that doctors cannot tell your parents if you don't want them to know. From there you can get a referral to a psychiatrist and therapist.
