This is a weird question. I just want everyone's input.

This weekend I went to get pizza. I had the baby with me. I put the pizza in the car. I put the baby in the car. I was holding my phone in my left hand and my keys in my right. I got in the car, drove away. Halfway home I realized my phone was gone... Got home, couldn't find it and panicked.

I couldn't remember forgetting it. I remembered I had it but where did I put it??

So I drove back to the place and there was my phone laying in the parking lot. It was right next to where my car door had been (driver's side,) when I got in.

I don't remember dropping it.... I was only holding my keys and my phone, so I wasn't juggling anything. Somehow when I was getting in the car I had this black hole in my mind that it disappeared out of my hand, didn't feel or hear it fall. I'm lucky it didn't get stolen or run over.

But... has anyone had anything like that happen? It scared me and maybe that's dumb but it really did scare me.

My MIL said it could be a sign of carpal tunnel, to not feel it leave my hand. That's fine, but what about the part where I didn't register in my mind that it was in my hand then it was not???

It's just freaky.

I drop stuff like this quite a bit. I'm so clumsy, and like you I don't generally notice it unless I hurt myself in the process of dropping something. Like, it's literally nonexistent in my memory that I've dropped something. Then later I'll be freaking out wondering where X object is and ugh. It sucks.

Thanks. This was the first time it happened like this. I mean I put stuff down and lose things all the time. But to not notice I dropped something just was really upsetting. just another thing on my list of strange things.

AD is there any time you have it happen more? Or is it just random?

Are you sure you just don't remember it happening? That's what usually happens to me, is memory issues, but I suppose not feeling it happen is also a possibility.

It tends to happen to me more when I'm floridly psychotic, but sometimes it's just random and it happens no matter how well I am or not.

Icky: It could be. It might be a combination. My phone is such an important thing. I can't just go get another one, so it's crazy this happened. I think the fact that I don't remember it happening is way more scary than I didn't feel it happening.

AD: hmmm... I'm just going to have to keep track if I can and see what else is going on with me. Thanks!

I have really bad memory and it's from a number of factors. I misplace my phone all the time and I have no memory of where I put it sometimes so looking for it can be a difficult task.

I also have a tendency of dropping things frequently, I've always assumed it was from my autism though.

Well, I Know I'm clumsy. I don't have autism, though. But, yes, losing things is normal for me. But normally I put them places and not drop. I'm feeling a lot better about this. Thanks to everyone. You guys are great.
