Hello people!

I'm here on behalf of my friend, who has schizotypal personality disorder, He is afraid that his disorder is developing into schizophrenia. He's been getting hallicunations all of his life, but lately, they have become more frequent. Also, his "alts", as he calls them, are becoming more oppresive and are talking more to him. He's also getting more and more black-outs. He takes one pill of Aripiprazole each night. He's also getting even shyer (if that is a word, not around me though.) He doesn't take therapy...

I hope that someone here is able to help both me and him with this (via a post) I'm really worried about him and scared about what might happen to him.

Thanks in advance.

well...schizophrenia doesnt have alternate personalities. period. if ur friend has that then they have more than just schizophrenia. unless he means the voices.

yeah if he has alternate personality that's Disociative Identity Disorder (DID.) You can have multiple diagnosis of things, though. So, I guess maybe you could have schizophrenia and DID.... I'm not sure. Unless, like newtus said, his alts are voices and not personalities.

I have DID and was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia. DID is controversial and some counselors refuse to accept it exists and won't diagnose or treat it.
