Hi. I am expecting to be referred to one sometime soon (probably on Wednesday). I was wondering, what do they actually do? Do they medicate you? How long do you visit them for?

If you could, would you share your experiences pleasE?

I used to see them.
I saw them for 3 years, my nurse and Dr were ok.

I used to stop my medication loads of times, but they only sectioned me one time.
They usually visit every week, then after a while every 2 weeks.
My nurse used to take me out sometimes as well.

You're lucky! My area doesn't have one

They have a more holistic and optimistic approach to recovery from psychosis so I've heard, so you don't just see a pdoc for meds, but also nurses and support workers who work with you on practical aspects of your condition. You have a case manager who manages the team so they all know what's going on. Some of them also have groups to encourage you to meet others IRL with psychosis and to socialise e.g. cooking classes etc. They see you from 2-5 years depending on the area, usually 2-3 years, and you have to be under 35yo and experiencing your first episode of psychosis.

Good luck!
