Hi, I have had 2 Psychosis (2000, and 2005) episodes where I was not in touch with reality (Hallucinations) and thought people wanted information from me. I am currently taking Risperdal a drug at 200mg. The doctor recommended for me to take this 2 years.

I would like to have Children one day (I am 33) and would like to know if anyone has experience with non-medication, natural treatments which may help me overcome Psychosis in a stressful situation.

Can anyone recommend some natural therapies and perhaps indicate their experiences. Perhaps also references to Germany if possible.

Would be nice to hear from you.

Kanzler

I have occasional psychosis, and sorry to say, I have no information at all on natural remedies for it. I've never even heard of any.

Best of luck on the search for some Psychosis-->Natural treatments

since you are already taking medicine, and the doctor suggests a certain time frame for that, why not do that only for now. Wait until the 2 years are completed before deciding the next step. Take care

Hey there.

Have you ever had therapy with a clinical psychologist? I'm asking because there has been some fairly recent work done on cognitive behaviour therapy for the treatment of voices, delusions, and hallucinations. The outcomes have been pretty good...

I would say that if you do get to through the two years without an episode on the meds (like your doctor suggested) then it might indeed be worth gradually reducing your meds down to zero. I would like to suggest that it might be really helpful to start a course of cognitive behaviour therapy as you taper or maybe even a bit before.

If you have weekly sessions with a clinician then they should be able to keep an eye on you to make sure you aren't having an episode. It might be the case... That if you do start to have an episode... The techniques you learn in therapy might be able to help you manage the symptoms so that you are able to control them without medication. It might be the case that your symptoms never recurr, but I would say that it might be good to plan for a recurrance and to plan for putting things in place so that you may be able to deal with them without medications.

Of course that might not work out and you might have to go back on meds... But it might be worth a shot :-)

I belong to like 15 Mental health sites desperate for help! I also own 2 Mental health Groups on Yahoo Groups. One man on Yahoo Groups is testing his theory on the Christian way of stopping them. If you would like to check out any of these just letting you know on a lot of other sites you can find people and their ideas. If you want to know more Email me since this stuff is not allowed on PC. november2005@hellokitty.com or goldensarza116@yahoo.com
