So I was watching TV Saturday night when all the sudden a strange thought crosses my mind: should I join the Communist Party and, a few years later, run for President?
My country's going through various problems, probably it's the worst situation we've been in since the World War I. We're an ex-Communist country, and since 1989 our state has been going down the drain, though it's supposed to be democracy.
Politics were never one of my interests, but since that Saturday night all I can think of is the future with me as the head of a capitalist-communist state. I've even planned to read as many books about communism as possible and, somewhere around February when I'll be 18, join the party. Every now and then I have a 'spare time' to think whether it's right or wrong. But even then I am anxious to become a president.
I already got some ideas and judging by the amount of people -even young ones, like me- saying that life was indeed better during the Commie regime, I really believe I'm gonna win the elections!

Is this a psychotic delusion or just an obsession due to Asperger? My apollogies if this is the wrong thread to post.

Well, in judging are you capable of such an act , all you have to do is look at your form.

Are you fully functional and sociable?

To do something like this you would have to be fairly stress resistant.

The reason i ask you this is that recovery is slow , if indeed you suffer some dysfunction , and going straight in at the top will test your interpersonal skills to the limit
Thanks for this!

I know that a certain degree of resistance is required in order to cope with responsibilities, but when I think of all the good things I can do as president, frankly I don't care about my social problems that much.
I can be sociable, but not for very long if the topic is out of my interest range. Also I'm having problems with agressive people, I can't stand it when someone makes fun of me or when I deal with angry persons.
I guess I'll go for it even if it's just a delusion; it seems impossible to get it out of my head now that it's inside. I only want to know what caused this.

Just because something comes into your head does not make it practical or realistic.

Politics is very social centric.

Thats all i would say. There are many ways to test your skills. You don't have to even go near politics as a profession to check first , how capable you are in social environments. Clubs , sports , jobs are a good place to start.

I completely agree with that! Only that I don't know what else to do with my ideas for a better country. I need to use them, and I know sending them to the actual president or prime-minister wouldn't change anything. It's very strange because it's the first time I get so obsessed with an idea...

I don't think you're delusional (though if you start to think that you already are president, then maybe you should worry! ).

There is nothing wrong with ambition. Yes, mental illness limits us, but we can do anything that anyone else can do. If you think you'd like a career in politics, go for it! God knows the world needs more decent, honest politicians who actually work for change. When I was a young teen, I wanted to be the first female president of the US. I have since realized that politics is not a good field for me (too much stress, too many greedy people to work with, too difficult to make a change). But if you want to be president, then go for it! You might just change the world!

I really think I could do a good job. The funny thing is that I can't even call myself a patriot. I don't want to do it because "I deeply love my country and bla bla", but because my brain can't understand why is it so hard for our leaders to do the right things.
Don't know why should I become a member in the Communist party though. In fact that's the main reason I opened this thread.
Well, thanks, I guess! Now I feel like a 5 year old kid who wants to become everything

I don't see anything wrong with setting high goals for yourself and working to reach them. I mean, I'm pretty sure everyone who has ever been a president at one point said "I am going to run and I'm going to do a good job." So that's a necessary part of the process.

But, I also think everyone who runs also needs to consider how it will effect them if they don't win. I think it's a very emotionally heated process with all the debating and polling and public opinions, then to not win I think would be a big emotional thing (and to win as well.) Plus everyone voicing their opinions on how good or bad they think you are. I don't think I could do it, personally, I'd go crazy hearing people say they hate me because I don't agree with their issues.

Those are just some things to consider. I think it would be hard for anyone even without an MI.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. From my point of view, losing or having a great deal of people throwing harsh words on me wouldn't be much of a problem since I'm used to bad luck (let's call it that way). And I don't think, to be honest, that there's gonna be very much hate, since I'm not going there to earn a lot of money, travel in Europe for free or to be on TV - I'll do it because, if I want to remain for a few more years in this country, I'm expecting a decent stay, and since no one seems to see things my way, I guess I should go for it.
It's true that winning the elections could bring me emotionally down for a while because that would mean someone's counting one me and, moreover, someone really trusts me.
