From Compliance to Activism: A Mother's Journey | Mad In America

Wow could not believe this story. So this guy named after the Buddha was a brilliant student and develops sz and he and his mom go along with the docs for a while but then she starts reading and realizing that the meds aren't doing anything good for him and probably caused his other problems like diabetes and memory loss etc. So she starts challenging them perhaps lower doses perhaps therapy etc. Now she's not just his mom but she power of attorney as well. The docs get PO'd and trick the son into removing her legal status by saying he'll get out sooner if he removes her...nice...anyway she has no access to her son at that point because they don't have to even let parents see you. Eventually through court intervention she was allowed to see him again but he's still stuck in the hospital and she's still trying to get his treatment changed.

But honestly I think this is how it goes everybody just assumes the docs are right in the beginning it's trust them and I'll be well again but that doesn't always work out...then what? That's how rebellions are made...
