So I'm raised in a Christian home, where we believe in God and the gifts of God etc... I have a good faith but I'm struggling to wrap my head around on whether or not I've had visions or I simply just hallucinated.
The first experience was when I went on holiday (I was about 11 or 12) and we were driving down a dirt road when I heard gunshots and the sounds of horses. I looked at my parents and brother and I knew that I was the only one hearing it because they weren't reacting to anything 'unusual.' The second experience was when we were in a winery and I could hear the sound of creepy music box music along with manic laughing and a dead body on the top of a vent box (don't know the proper term) and there was blood dripping onto the floor. Then behind me was a door and I could hear someone scratching on the door as if they were trying to get out. The third experience was at home (this was about last year) and I had gotten out of bed and was headed to the kitchen (there's a room connected to the lounge, laundry, front room and entry to the bedrooms, I was headed through there to the lounge and into the kitchen connected in the lounge) and my brother walked out in front of me calling out for my mum, going towards the kitchen as well, so I followed, as soon as I entered the lounge he had was no where to be seen. I heard him calling out my mum again but this time, I heard it from the front room, so I walked over there and saw both him and my mum talking. Final experience I remember (around this year) is when I was going to sleep and I felt a loud rumble, almost like an earthquake (Australia doesn't get tremors as strong as the one I felt - I asked my parents about it the next morning but they didn't know what I was on about - It shook my entire house, not something you could sleep through and my parents are not heavy sleepers). After the tremor I could swear I could hear someone opening the backyard door and entering our house. I then thought they had killed my pets, killed my family and were coming after me. I could hear someone breathing in my room (despite the fact I didn't hear my door open) and I was literally scared they were going to hurt me or kill me or harass me. There are a few other experiences, relating to the last one, but those are the main ones I vividly remember. I should also add I now question a lot on what is real and what isn't, whether it's a sound, person, object, animal etc.. |

Worrying is ok. Maybe you have dissociation as you don't feel that life is real. I don't have schizophrenia so I don't know but I think hallucinations are supposed to occur in a short period of time not many years per hallucination let alone episode. It's extremely rare that one would hallucinate less than ten or some times throughout their life especially before age of 15. |

Honestly they sound like hallucinations to me...if they were visions what were they trying to tell you? About 25% of people have some level of hallucinations while only 1% of people have schizophrenia unless this is common I wouldn't worry...one a year or less is not a big deal but worrying about it all the time is. Perhaps seeing a pdoc and having them say everything is Ok would help? You might also want to try the Oliver sacks book hallucinations it talks about a number of medical conditions etc that can cause hallucinations.

Also you should check out hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations that occur as you fall asleep or wake up...they are considered normal and not an indicator of sanity.

The body I saw on the vent was the one dripping blood. There wouldn't be wine up on the vents since we were on the top floor and the cellars were below. The music I heard was crystal clear, along with the laughing and the scratching on the door. Not sure if I had just woken up. I usually wake up at 6 and get up around 8 and I'm wide awake by then so I'm not sure if it was because I was slightly tired or it was a hallucination. I think the experience with thinking people were in my house was more of a paranoid thought/delusion. I haven't had much vivid hallucinations (if I can call them that) since, it's mainly delusions now. Hopefully I'll have answers from my counsellor or GP soon on what is wrong. |
