Hi Lately my friends and family have said I am acting strangely I have seen a school counselor a while back I remember them suggesting I might have schizophrenia buut I was never diagnosed. I always act sort of eccentric and kinda off the wall but apprently I am acting worse lately. So I am planning on going to a Psychiatrist or something soon So I can get properly Diagnosed. I decided to join this forum for support I scored pretty high on the quiz thing for Schizophrenia kinda shocked me lol. They weren't kidding! I have a question dose frequent use of ahem..(Cannabis) Affect Schizophrenia negatively? Anyway I am new here so I wanna make friends!I am kinda offbeat and very random But don't worry I don't bite...(much anyway)Just looking for some support from others like me. I keep having these freaky hallucinations and sometimes I jump back or yell at them to go away,They usually are creepy old people wanting to grab me...it's like a horror
Movie it scares the poop out of me,I think they might be the undead and I just have this special ability to see them but my friends say that's not possible,They're probably right..But what do I know? I also think I see bugs, bugs everywhere sometimes small beetles or weird spiders, and Then I see weird flying things
and I get these intense dreams that make 0 sense. They usually have to do with me going on some weird adventure into this weird dimension. Anyone else get that?

Hiya, Welcome to the forum and it is probably a good idea to see a psychiatrist, then you will know for sure.

So here is the deal yes cannabis typically exacerbates psychosis or schizophrenia. However there is some evidence that CBD actually helps treat it...problem is in most cases the high THC content is going to win. There are some strains like charlottes web that are used medicinally with low THC and high CBD and companies working on CBD derivatives. Are you having mostly visual or also auditory hallucinations?

Yes I have auditory hallucinations too, they are usually of people breathing, coughing, crying, laughing then the I have mental visual hallucinations attached with auditory hallucinations usually horror story like hallucinations...like someone being decapitated and then someone saying you're next..these happen all the time. I smoke weed religiously in an effort to self medicate but I don't honestly know if it's helping or hurting. (p.s. I thought I already posted this reply but I guess it didn't go through) Aaaaaanyway Thanks for the info on that. I will say sometimes my hallucinations both visual and auditory
are more positive when I am high, but they also on the other hand seem to be more present when and after I smoke
Weed.

Oh cool I just found out I can thank people and hug people
interesting feature!

Hi Cannabliss, I know there are a lot of theories out there about pot and that people react to it differently but I'm more inclined to believe that it does induce psychosis in some people. Frequent use changes how a person thinks and it causes things like paranoia, cognitive impairments, depression...etc.

I have a very colorful past that included a lot of drugs. At first it seemed like they were a way to feel better--some of the drugs even felt freaking great and I would still love to do them. But, now that I look back on it I can see how they contributed to and exacerbated my mental illness and psychosis. Now, my brain is too fragile for me to risk getting high because it might induce psychosis and I might not ever recover from it.

I have a cognitive impairment that developed when I was using drugs and even though I have been clean for over 9 years it has not gotten better. It could be a result of my drug use or be caused by my psychosis--the neurologists don't know. If you think the pot is influencing your hallucinations--even if they are "more positive"--you might want to consider the potential damage you might be causing in your brain. For me, hallucinations are a sign that my brain is screwing-up because it's not able to determine what's real from what it''s creating on it's own. Really, there is no way of knowing the long term effects of smoking pot but for me it's not worth the risk.

I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm preaching to you--that's not my intention. I just want to share what happened to me so you are aware of the risks of getting high. Of course this doesn't happen to everybody and it might not happen to you. I hope it doesn't...because it really sucks. Just use your best judgement and do what you think is right for you......D.

If there's a chance that something may be harmful, or that it won't do anything for you, why bother at all?

Well I just like to self medicate it helps calm me sometimes and I have this reliance on it...
it's not an addiction but,I can't help but to toke up when I get man, anxious, fearful, worried
or stressed... It's like a immediate reaction for me to smoke weed. Thanks for your opinions
everyone
