Schizophrenia/Paranoid type.
Depression Dissociative disorder. ...the other 2 are the lower in me and less severe my main issue is the paranoid schizophrenia according to my doc.I get to see a therapist soon though maybe they will help me out with some pointers of living my life without snapping.I also get to take these wonderful new medications with lovely side effects that can cause all sorts of issues that I really dont need to deal with right now.I am so upset about this its almost like my chance of a normal life is over tbh I dont even want to take these meds.just sat there and cried all night long after the diagnosis.almost felt like giving up one time but I cant I have to just struggle forward and make the best of things.what in the world should I do?how can I overcome this?because this diagnosis has floored me. How long have you been hearing voices because they shouldn't dx you with sz for six months so it's strange to me you're not even on meds yet...
Anyway early treatment with meds plus appropriate therapy can actually help you get better. I was on meds for 2.5 years and finally got off symptom free 6 months ago. While this doesn't work for every one....there is a 25% success rate in the first couple of years... It's also very important not to stop taking the AP abruptly while you are on it as it will likely trigger a relapse just because of how the drug works....you have to taper off. Typically the earliest you'd want to try this is six months symptom free. __________________ Hugs! |

If you had a headache and someone gave you a tylenol....you have the option of taking tylenol or not but at least for me once I found that tylenol was effective in treating headaches I was very happy to have that as an option. Same thing...its about having options... __________________ Hugs! |

Thanks.I really did not want to see a pdoc at first I did not think anything was really wrong with me at all.but my mother made me see one so now I am stuck with all of this it just feels like a heavy burden on my shoulders but I guess it wont get any better with me rebelling against taking the meds.

Dissociative disorder is often confused with schizophrenia. If I were you I would research each diagnosis and get a second opinion (just to be sure).
