Ever since I was 15 or 16 years old, I've been experiencing abnormal issues with and a decline in my cognition.. I'll list these symptoms:
*Difficulty spelling and recalling words
*Difficulty remembering the day and date
*Difficulty remembering where I place things as soon I leave them
*Recently, difficulty remembering what I or others have just said
*Difficulty holding onto a thought, remembering what I just thought, and my train of thought getting interrupted
*Difficulty processing/retaining information
*Erratic sleep pattern (I usually slept 4 to 6 hours early morning and sometimes 7 to 8 before I became insomniac)
*Difficulty articulating thoughts
*Uncomfortable thoughts of getting harmed (i.e. getting shot)
*Impulsivity
*Irritability
*Difficulty getting tasks started, need another's help to do some tasks, and tasks seem overwhelming even simple tasks such as preparing a meal
*Difficulty doing mental math
*Difficulty thinking clearly
*Depression

I'm really concerned my cognitive decline is an early warning sign of schizophrenia (specially disorganized schizophrenia) and my impulsivity, irritability, and odd changes in mood are signs of bipolar disorder or other mental illnesses.

Thinking about the possibility of losing my mind has really stressed me out so much that I've become insomniac, and I'm afraid that stress is only hurting my brain more. I would love advice on how to deal with this before it gets worse, and how to get a mental health assessment/treatment asap, and others' diagnosis. I know I should ask a psychologist that and I intend to, but I would like others' opinions.

Hello ConstantlyAnxious,
I think seeing a psychiatrist is a good idea. No one here can give you a diagnosis. Hopefully some will be along to discuss their experiences.

I wish you well,
