I'm asking because I have heard from a few people that they cannot remember much of what happened while acutely psychotic, because they were "really out of it". This makes a lot of sense to me, as psychosis really wreaks havoc on the brain.

I can remember all my "psychotic" periods, in great detail. I am starting to think that maybe I haven't been psychotic. I may just have a really powerful imagination that likes to torture me. I think I may just have ADHD.

So, here is the question:

Can you usually remember your psychotic episodes?

My two worst breaks I couldn't remember much. Just some flashbacks that I have.

I'm the same as Erti... I remember fragments, but can't really piece them all together.

i remember all my delusions better than experience from ordinary life which gives them emphasis and meaning because my memory of ordinary life is so patchy.

during times of intense mania my memory is pretty sketchy.
Thanks for this!

I have no memories. Just stories of what I was doing.

Mine too, it's like the delusions/hallucinations are etched in where the rest is just kind of there----I mean how can you forget that you're supposed to be a shaman healing the world or that leprechauns have given you a special spirit plant to take care of

I remember fragments, but not all. My family told me so much I didn't remember. So it's not yes or no it's somewhat.

I've only really had one major episode lasting several weeks and no I don't remember much of it at all. I woke up in hospital after being in there a week, I didn't remember any of it. No one will tell me either. Which makes me think I must have been really bad or embarrassing.

Im very delusional. Its weird, my stories make sense but they lack proof. Everything is based on hunches. Its like I live in this state of fear and depression where they make the judgments. Phew! Thank god for modern medicine.

I can remember the gist of most of my psychotic episodes, but not the details. However, my memory of the police coming to the apartment and taking me to the hospital is quite vivid, as is most of my hospital stay.

Best,
Hope

Yes I remember many details, but I can't fathom why I didn't realize my thoughts were ridiculous. It's like thinking back on a dream that you wake up from and think "that made no sense at all".

I'm too embarassed to tell people what I was thinking. Some of it leaked out at work and I know a few people in our industry now think I'm a drug addict or weird (I lost that job). I thought one neighbour was in love with me - I don't know why! - and at least I didn't say anything to her about it.

I thought I did but I kept a diary during my most severe one and I felt quite depressed reading it back.
