Had a psychotic break a few years ago. Have been good on risperidone. Found a letter in my apartment door talking about recent robberies. Checked jewelry box and found that all good stuff is gone.

Who is going to believe me? I let in strangers so it's my fault but maintenance showed up at my door with a work order that I didn't request. That'd be perfect to rip off people.

I believe you and I think the first thing you need to do is check with the apartment manager and see if he gave out the work order. Then discuss with him the fact that you were robbed and go from there.
Thanks for this!

I agree with Jelly Bean. If you were robbed, no doubt others were too. You need to report it, so they can see what the pattern is.

I agree with all the above. Sorry you were robbed. I've been there , it feels awful to be robbed. It sounds like maybe things have happened in the past and you weren't believed or you were blamed for someone else's bad / evil behavior. I'm sorry. Stand up for yourself. Square your shoulders, and hold your head high. You were right. The thief was wrong.

File a report with the police. Do you have any purchase records, receipts, appraisals or insurance policies covering any of the missing pieces? Are there nearby pawn or estate jewelry shops that you could check? I'm sorry for your loss.

During psychotic episode called police all the time so they aren't a resource for me anymore. Am thinking of talking to apt manager and hope he hasn't heard any gossip about me because I've been okay for the past two years. Also took a few things that I don't want stolen over to parents and put in 'my' dresser there.

Thanks all who answered.

UPDATE--my own father doesn't believe me and so I'm afraid to do anything. My sink has a piece broken off plus the tiles in my shower are starting to buckle. When maintenance showed up with the weird work order I told him my shower needed recaulked (before any buckling had shown up). The guy spent two hours in my bathroom and didn't even do a third of the tub. And now all of a sudden tiles are buckling?? If it was because of a cleaning product I used then it wouldn't be just one small section that's buckling.

I want to take blanket and go sleep in my closet. I don't want to call maintenance I don't want to deal with anyone. I'm never going to get past the psychotic episode.

Was going to write my dad another email but he's old and doesn't need the stress of someone stealing from me. I guess it's better he think I'm nuts again.

I'm an idiot. Found some of 'missing' jewelry in an old jewelry box that I don't use anymore. I honestly don't remember putting it there. Since the only stuff that is really missing all came from the same place I'm willing to bet it was people I was partying with and not maintenance (because it wouldn't have taken a long time to find and grab).

My lack of memory bothers me because that was one of the symptoms of my psychotic break.
