hm. not sure why diabetes and cancer. cuz i cant think of direct causes between those thigs but i can think of indirect links. like smoking cigs cuz of stress.

It's interesting to me that they're linking childhood trauma to physical illnesses rather than mental illnesses.

yea i was gonna say im surprised they didnt talk about mental illness but they chose to research cancer and diabetes?

There's a table at the article with some of the problems associated with a higher ACE score. Depression is listed. And suicide. Drug and alcohol use. Those are seen as mental health problems. The original story that I heard on the radio was very much focused on physical health problems, though.

the article i read yesterday on this was about how they formulated this test. they were doing a research on a dieting thing for obese people. they found staggering statistics of overweight and obese people with histories of childhood abuse (physical, emotional, verbal, sexual). so they created the ACE quiz. they discovered a link between childhood adverse events and physical problems in adults. at least thats what i took from it
