I'm getting ready to go out-of-state to be with my mom. She's 79, and is having a mastectomy on one side. She had a lumpectomy on the same side about 20 years ago, but I'm really nervous about this one. She has three small lesions in different areas of the breast, and it's a slow-growing cancer, so that doesn't really worry me. I'm more worried about her going through such major surgery at her age. Especially because historically she has trouble with anesthesia.

Afternoon/Morning,

Been a reasonably productive day for me so far...

Went to my stop smoking appointment & got some NRT products. The person I saw did say perhaps given my struggles with giving up smoking so far maybe now wasn't the right time but when is? It could be literally months or even years be I start to hate actually smoking cigarettes again so I've just got to get on with it regardless.

Also did some online grocery shopping. Very useful as it allows me to get in things that my local shops don't have. So, lots of yummy food on the way. I decided to get some things in for cooking food as well as ready meals. Since my psychosis came back I've mostly been eating ready meals but I do miss cooked meals. Hopefully it'll be an incentive to get going in the kitchen.

Yeah I ordered an indian curry powder off amazon and am patiently awaiting its shipment-----there was a great recipe for a chickpea curry that uses it, I'm hoping its more like garam masala than the weak curry powders we get here. It's been so hot out here I've barely been cooking myself.

I don't remember my dream last night but I remember I had one. My head is sort of in a fog but I just had coffee. Hopefully I'll get more woken up. I have ear plugs in because the jackhammers started at 7 am outside my window.

yeah there are places I could go around here to get the spices like devon street or probably out in naperville but driving and me don't really mix too well anymore. We used to have a spice shop called penzys that made their own spices and I have a lot from there but they never had all the indian spices.....

I feel like I didn't sleep. It feels like I closed my eyes for a second and 5 hours flew by with no sleep.

I would be so irritated. I hate how people start doing loud jobs like that in the early morning.

Right and the thing is they started in April! This has been going on for months and months and they're not done yet?!? They stopped for the whole month of July and I thought it was over but no! And if I have to go anywhere, which I do, I have to walk down the hill of broken sidewalk just to get to a cab. They can't pick me up here. I'm so tired of these jerks that can't finish the damned job!

You don't want to take public transportation? I lived right off Devon about 10 years ago. I used to take the bus north and it was fun (although at the time all I felt was anxiety).

That sounds nice... I've heard of chickpea curry but have never tried one before. I've cooked my own curries from scratch in past but these days I usually just buy the jars of curry sauce as a base.

The generic curry I perfected myself uses medium curry powder, coriander, garlic, onion, a tin of chopped tomatoes & some sour cream. I've have wanted to branch out though & learn how to make a more fragrant style curry or perhaps a thai green which is my Dad's specialty.

I hate it when that happens! When I used to suffer from insomnia that would happen all the time. It's like you know you must have slept technically because so much time has passed but you don't feel refreshed at all. It's horrible.

I could probably do that some time it just seems like I'm used to taking the L in the city and avoid buses except for work.

I'm sorry. they're redoing our road and says it'll take 2 years and they've been going for months but the loudest thing I hear is those big trucks that carry rocks and stuff.

They don't have great curry bases here at least not at my grocery, it tastes flat. Normally I mix all the individual spices but lazy me wants a one stop curry powder---its worth a try.

We have good jarred green and red thai curries here so I'm not as worried about those and I'm never going to find fresh galangal.

They won't even deliver? Do you have someone who can go shopping for you and bring it to you?
