My wife started hearing things nobody else could a couple of weeks ago. It took me some time to understand what has happening. Since then, she has a councilor and a doctor has prescribed medicine. I was a bit sad to find out that it will take _weeks_ before we find out if the medicine will help. Patience patience patience... For now, she is convinced. I've read that playing along with what she hears isn't healthy. She would have me turn over every rock and bush. I try my best to be understanding. If I go along with her requests, will it do more harm?

What does harm is people feeding into their delusions, it makes them more real. You don't have to be a cop and counteract everything but you can't be telling her she's right either....best to be as neutral as possible and just listen. If she asks your opinion tell her the truth but don't offer an opinion unless she directly asks.

Sometimes I do reality checks, you know---did you hear or see that because I want to know if it was real or not.

When I first started hallucinating I would hear things amplified. I heard water dripping very loudly. I look at the sinks and bath faucets and neither were dripping water. Then, I found out that the washer was making noises. It was so loud I couldn't tell where it was coming from.

Then, I heard loud music even though my windows in my apartment were closed. I called the police and they cam out and didn't hear music. I could still hear the music. The police officer was looking at me like I was crazy. Then, I begged the police officer to turn off his car. He heard faint distant music. He checked and there was music he said was very quiet. Maybe all the sounds are amplified in her mind and she is not really hallucinating.

Also, I don't think it would cause harm if she really is hallucinating.

My T's response is to talk me through it with logic or do a reality check. My husband does whatever it takes to prove me wrong.

tell her about my skills. i mentaly push visualizing and feeling internal areas.
for instance last night i was hearing voices, so i focussed on the front ribs, pushed down mentaly and they went quiet. she will have to do this to many parts of her.

legs, hips, back, shoulder blades, arms, shoulders, neck, skull, then ribs.

tell her to practice over time they should reduce.

also take niacin in high safe doses, increase protiens, and take a mixed shampoo hot bath daily.
