I tend to listen to a lot of music to distract myself from some of my symptoms and to keep the voices out.

So i was wondering what type music you guys listen to when you need to cope or deal with your illness. What genre or any particular bands you guys listen to?

Semi-random thread, but thats how a lot of good threads start isn't it?

Lately I can't get this out of my mind,

Johann Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz

Also some of the other waltzes but when I hum them they usually turn into The Blue Danube. My cat hated this stuff!

Anything with anythony green in it really, early saosin, the sound of animals fighting, and his oldest band "audience of one".

For some reason that reminded me of this, which was on a mix tape I used to listen to while riding my bike...

i listen to powerful music like skinny puppy or swans because it agitates the voices, and i can deconstruct how they use my body to make me hear them. im no longer scared, its like a theater and im the star, until i unplug the mixer

If you like Dresden Dolls I also recommend Amanda Palmer.
And I second the vote for Mars Volta.

I listen to Black Violin when I've had a bad day. It's modern day music with the power of violins, and there's no lyrics a lot of the time so I don't find myself relating to songs that make me feel lower.

i use music to help me face down my voices, deconstruct how they attach to me, or wire me up. i get them mad, they get quieter as i find key points on me and block them.

skinny puppy
bowie
pet shop boys
collide

I like to listen to symphonic metal like nightwish, within temptation or angtoria
That soothes my mind and sends me on creative journey.
