Hey guys, I need help badly. I need to know of whether I should go to the psychiatric hospital. I had a very bad day today and whatever's wrong seems to be just getting worse (therapist thinks i only have dissociation). I was at a car dealership with someone and I had to pay attention to what the salesman was saying and I soon noticed how bad my symptoms were. EXTREME cognitive impairment, visual disturbances everywhere (seeing yellow spots etc), weird vision, strange feelings in my head, extreme dp/dr in general. The symptoms were so bad that I could not focus on what anyone was saying, could not take ANYTHING in, and it just felt like my brain was not working AT ALL. Could not think, learn, etc. I need help please. I just want to know if this is typical of psychosis. I mean even right now as I type this I can look at the carpet and see weird color spots and I just feel so dazed and wrong.

You don't sound psychotic maybe anxious as Materly has said. I would bring it up with the therapist though. It doesn't sound like a trip to the hospital is necessary but only you can decide whether or not to go.

Signs and symptoms of a concussion may include:
Headache or a feeling of pressure in the head. Temporary loss of consciousness. Confusion or feeling as if in a fog. Amnesia surrounding the traumatic event. Dizziness or "seeing stars" Ringing in the ears. Nausea. Vomiting. Does this sound like a more accurate description of your symptoms? |

We really do not know until you took a psychological test or until proven by a diagnosis. Actually, an early sign of psychosis might be characterized by a confusion of the entire situation that a person encounters. It could be unusual and even strange experiences which may be distressing. My advice here is to seek medical help.
