A friend of mine has a brief uncontrollable tremor in her hand right before she hears nosies/a voice. The voice is usually broken words or disjointed sentences. It can be negative but is also nonsensical or even just whispers as well.
She was diagnosed as a Schizophrenic but only hears noise/a voice. To my knowledge has nothing else indicative of Schizophrenia happen. No delusions, extreme paranoias etc. She has disorganized speech but so do I (undiagnosed anything). Like I trip over myself when I speak or we'll stop talking and then I'll randomly start talking about something that pops into my head. So I'm not sure if that would qualify as an indicator for Schizophrenia. I can't find anything that states that someone will have a physical indicator prior to having an episode. She also only hears something for a few hours/a day or so every few months. (to my knowledge this has been twice in 8 months). She's also not been on any meds for 3-4 years and frankly no one could probably tell she's been diagnosed with this. So I have really wonder if it's the right diagnosis. Could this be a misdiagnosis or an indicator of something else? |

I get very cold when something is coming on. Irrationally cold.
Im not sure if im even correct on this statement or not, but i compare it to the aura people get before a seizure, i get cold. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

Is the physical indicator a sign that an episode or symptom is coming on or is it just coincidence?

She had some brain scans done that came back as normal but I'm not sure if she was tested for anything else. She had some extended family (uncle and two cousins...huge family) that had some mental health issues but not specifically schizophrenia I think.
I've just not heard of something so specific as a tremor in a hand and then the noises/voices happening but then it goes away in a few hours or at most a few days. This happens (to my knowledge...she may be diminishing it) only a few times a year. (Without medication) That's why the diagnosis seems so heavy. |

I don't doubt somethings happening, I just question if the diagnosis is correct. And I'm trying to help her get the confidence to seek a second opinion. |

I'm not sure what an 'episode' means because I supposedly have 'symptoms' all the time. But before each hospital admission, my sleep has decreased to an hour or two a night even though I've really wanted to sleep longer, and then my appetite completely disappears so I lose about 10-20% of my body weight in a few weeks. I've never noticed any physical signs before hearing voices though when I used to hear them.
It sounds like being evaluated for epilepsy would be a good idea though. All the best, *Willow* |
