So i always thought i had psychotic depression. That's what the pdoc at the hospital told me. But a couple of days ago my pdoc told me i don't have depression. And i asked my therapist what my pdoc meant and she said i just have psychosis not depression. Is psychosis a diagnosis on its own? Can you just be diagnosed with psychosis?

Psychosis is a symptom. But you can be diagnosed with Psychotic Disorder which has it's own characteristics.

Most of the time. But it says "Psychosis (as a medical sign of a psychiatric disorder) is a diagnosis of exclusion. That is, a new-onset episode of psychosis is not considered a symptom of a psychiatric disorder until other relevant and known causes of psychosis are properly excluded.[3]" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
