I am on 300mg of Wellbutrin XL and 0.5mg of haldol as a sleeping aid. On the 300mg of wellbutrin xl i have experienced hallucinations and psychosis. When i sit in the bus or park I am completely disconnected with reality and can feel the voices in my head. Now note this is day 5 on wellbutrin xl 300mg and my doctor started me on this dosage form instead of the classical 150. I dont know if i should lower the wellbutrin dosage form to 150mg or increase the haldol dosage form to 1-2 mg...The reason i went on the haldol is for my hallucinations and wellbutrin was supposed to be an energy pill...it did give me energy but instead it has induced a state of psychosis.. let me know your thoughts thanks!

Welcome to PC! Talk to your doctor. For other reasons those drugs don't seem like a good combo to me anyway. Also, I've never heard of Haldol being used for sleep, it's seems like a strong medication to be chosen for that reason. Have you tried anything else for sleep? And if it's not working, it's not working. I hope you find something else that works.

Dr's think 300 mg Wellbutrin prompted one of my psychotic episodes so they took me off for a while, but it was the only antidepressant that was effective for me so they started me back on 150 and then 150mg in morning and 150mg at night. Works much better for me. (Also on Seroquel and sleeping pills at night)

wellbutrin has been known to induce psychosis in those who are already prone to it
