I am on 10mg of Serotax, and ever since I got on it my episodes have calmed down, my depression is low and my self-harm tendencies are almost not there. I was never allowed to read about the medications I am taking, because of well paranoia, so all I knew about Serotax was that it's for depression. So why is it working for psychosis? (I am diagnosed with manic-depression with psychotic symtoms)

basically if you're bipolar and they get your mania and depression under control you won't have psychosis anymore because the psychosis is due to the mood symptoms. Staying on top of mood changes though is difficult so usually you'd get an antipsychotic, mood stabilizer etc.

The above is spot on. If one's struggle is a purely affective disorder and not Schizoprenia or Schizoaffective, then the psychosis is mania or depression dependent. If the moods are controlled with antidepressants or mood stabilizers, the psychosis will not present itself in the first place.
