I can't remember if I've asked this before, so forgive me if i have.

Do people relate to hearing conversations/bits of conversations in your head? I usually have it after a busy day or if I'm mentally tired or overwhelmed. I'll hear people talking inside my head and it feels like it's not me thinking, it's just like i'm overhearing people having conversations. Usually the voices are people's voices that I've heard during the day, but the conversations or words are random.

I was diagnosed manic-depressive (now called bipolar) a long time ago. I'm now only diagnosed with depression. I have had the same thing you are describing. I think it's from being overwhelmed with stress, past trauma, and lack of sleep.

yes my treatment providers call this earworm. no its not a live worm. its just the name of the problem, its a kind of hallucination that happens to me, like hearing a song and then you cant get that song to stop playing in the mind, sometimes when I have had a busy day my mind with replay conversations or sounds I have had or heard that day, sometimes even days before. eventually it calms down once I do some meditation and stress reduction, and some creative distractions like sometimes my wife and I will take one of those mental conversations and debate it to death with comedy phrases / statements by our favorite comedians. eventually the internal conversations end because I am so focused on the see who can keep coming up with phrases and statements using the last one as a point of reference. we end up totally off track of the original earwormed conversation and into our own. another word for ear worm here where I am is audio hallucinations.

the voices I with my mental disorders dont replay conversations that I have had or heard that day.

thanks for the replies everyone. i don't have bipolar. i am on a low dose of antipsychotic and when i first started the conversations stopped - although that could also have been down to being in hospital, ie: not overwhelmed with work and talking to people constantly.
Thanks for this!

I know what you are going through, I have that occasionally but as a teenager I had that
every night when I laid my head on the pillow, it could actually be a little scary.

I often hear voices from the distant past, to times of my life when I was under a lot of stress. I'm SZA and under treatment for it (pills, psychiatrist visits), but despite medicines I've been ill for almost 12 years. Voices are sometimes memories of past conversations; other times the voices talk with each other, or holler, or quarrel. Meds have caused a lessening of the symptoms, and I am trying to find part-time work to see if I can do it.
