I had to quit half of my subject at college. I had 7 this semester, 3 from the second year and 4 from the third year.

This is my third year at college but I still have subjects from the second one since I missed the final examns because I was having a psychotic break.

I can't handle this much, I was doing like a year and half in one to the point I was having lessons from 9 to 14 and lab practices from 15 to 19, extra English course on Monday and two sports on Tuesday and Wednesday from 19 to 21 to get more credits, and then one or two tests every week, and the red croix courses on weekends from 9 to 14.

It was a lot and I would have been able to do it if I didn't have any kind of mental problem.

I didn't want to repeat an academical year because of the psychotic break I had while the final examns of the second year, this is why I was doing this much.

But now...

Yeah, I am repeating a year, I am doing the second year while I should be doing on my third one.

I feel like a failure....

I hate psychotic-dissociative crisis... whatever, I had one last week that triggered a psychotic-I-don't-know-what, or that's what my psychiatrist said, at least. Now entities are stronger, my mind gets tired after the most easy task, by brain can't handle stress anymore, I can't continue with college without repeating a course... I feel so done. I tried to forget about disorders and other **** but it just doesn't work this way.

I am studying a degree in Pharmacy, bah.

You aren't a failure---repeating a year is just a temporary setback.

I agree. I've been trying since 2012 and I still don't have enough credits to be considered a 2nd year. I'm still going. I'm having my own breakdown right now too about school. I know it's hard. But if it's something you really want to do, don't give up!

Thank you. I don't know if I am over-perfectionist and strict, but I feel lazy and useless because I am not doing 'enough'.

I often feel like this, people said I am too hard on myself. One step back can make us walk two steps forwards sometimes

Be realistic. If you have mental illness some things are not as easy as
if you are healthy.
Take it slow.
Life is not competition with healthy people.

I have an hyperactive mind and really competitive personality, for me it's really hard to 'take it slow'. I don't see myself sick or that different from 'healthy people', actually, I don't see the difference and don't want to make one.

I had to drop out when I was in my early 20s because of psychotic breaks. It wasn't the end of the world though. I found other things to do that didn't require a degree. Finally, the psychotic breaks faded away and way led on to way and I was able to go back to school and get a 4 year degree 20 years later.

I actually just got a book from the library called "great careers with a high school diploma". I got the healthcare, medicine and science book. There's others with other types of jobs you can do without worrying about finishing college. So done with college...So done with college...
Thanks for this!

Update 3 years later...

This is supposed to be my last year at college, if everything goes well I will be a pharmacist in June.
