Hi! This thread is for people like myself who want to exchange information about the difficulties we voice hearers deal with, that non-voicehearers don't/can't understand, including professionals. We are often told that what we hear & experience isn't real. It's because, in my opinion, they don't have the same experience, so therefore, it can't be real. The brain, all parts, is/are extremely intelligent & talented. Why doesn't it occur to intelligent outsiders that it's possible for other parts of the brain to figure out how to talk to the so-called conscious mind? Conscious minds, in real life, talk to each other all the time, using our vocal chords. Why is it so impossible to believe that different parts of the brain can talk to other parts? What say you?

I don't here voices but I have been integrating my "shadow side"--perhaps my shadow side is a bit like the other voice in my head? An example of my shadow side would be thinking that my husband is secretly taking steps to divorce me because of an action that I should be taking at face value. Most of the time I trust him but I sometimes let my fears generate an entire story behind an single action or conversation even though the other 95 percent of his actions are 100 percent trustworthy and loving. I think my "shadow side" thoughts are anxiety--preparing for the worst scenario--even though he has been there for me for more than 32 years! I wonder if conflicting thoughts and voices share similarities?

I believed all my voices came from the right side of my brain trying to communicate with the left.....I still believe that may have been the case.

Yea I hear voices but it isn't as bad as you think it really awfully bad, and I can't always deal with them. So keep the forum running.

I hear voices occasionally. Usually I have visual hallucinations though. Frankly the audio ones freak me out. I don't know what to think when the voices come. I get really scared.

I hear voices but it's gone down from very often to hardly ever with the meds I'm on now. I find them distracting and disorienting, and they make me very paranoid. It took me a long time to find the right meds that help me but thankfully I'm finally on ones that have nearly completely stopped my auditory hallucinations. I have them only rarely now

I hear voices to me it's like I'm talking to the spiritual world. Like I discussed president Trumps impeachment when he was being elected, I said they would impeach him. It's like an inner knowing coming out.

My world of voices is extremely challenging. They talk to each other and/or to me all day long every day. They have distinct personalities & behaviors & sounds to their voices. They are very different from each other. One of them is my worst challenge. The others seem to have a degree of thoughtfulness & kindness in them, so I am able to hang in there most of the time. I think I'm getting stronger. I see possibilities. Does any of this help any of you? I mean, my sharing these things with you?

I used to hear voices every day when I was 16 before I was put on risperidone. The psychiatrist put me on 1mg a day and then I came back to him and said "The voices aren't gone" so he put me on 2mg. I came back and said "The voices are gone" and he was like "I know" because he knew that they wouldn't survive on 2mg a day lol..

The voices that I had were mostly people calling my name from other rooms when no one was there and also people talking to me and trying to tell me things. It was different voices such as male, female and neutral of different ages saying mostly really random things.

I miss having voices. If I had voices now while being mentally stable, I think having a small amount of voices would benefit me because I think that it's my subconscious mind trying to talk to me. One voice I remember said "I hurt you and you remain silent". I feel like it was a voice trying to warn me about being manipulated by my narcissist ex step dad. I never stood up for myself. I let him abuse me. I feel like he caused the stress that triggered my psychosis.

When I was hearing voices, I would hear more hypnagogic and hypnopompic voices. I still have hypnotic hallucinations but they are less pronounced now. But every time I hear a voice, I try to listen.. Because they are creative as **** and are very interesting.

Hi, @hallieBETH, I started out with the radio sound. I thought it was coming from a neighbor with their window open. Or sometimes I thought maybe the sounds were coming from a school nearby using loud speakers for one of their functions. Then I started hearing music, & again I thought it was coming from someone else's radio. I eventually realized the sounds were coming from inside my own head. After that, the sounds continued to evolve. I think some part of the brain was learning during this evolvement, using memory to imitate sounds, maybe for self entertainment. Thank you for sharing your experience. I wonder how many people hear the radio or tv sound?

I get them regularly, but much, much worse when really psychotic and manic, like earlier this week/last week. Sometimes, they are just a man and a woman talking, sometimes it's a big group. Often, it sounds like it;s just around the corner or in the hall, but of course, there's never anyone there. When I am really psychotic, mine frighten me. I don't like them.

I'm sorry, @bpcyclist. I know. I also suffer greatly at times. Other times they aren't that bad & we talk about things, like about music. They sing, & beautifully. I have enjoyed those moments. I hope it gets easier for you. I just said a prayer for you.

I perceive the voices in my head and outside my head. My interior voice is a feminine voice with whom I have a dialogue. The feminine voice is perceived from the right side and the automaton voice is perceived from the left side.

All my voices started on the right side, but the external ones can come from anywhere now.

My voices started on the left side. When I get migraines if I get them on the left side they are often worse. I wonder if there is any connection whatsoever, or if it is just coincidence.....
