The first image a person usually has as a painter/drywaller is a person dirty with paint and dust all over them. Also, it's not seen as a valued job. "everybody thinks they are a painter" is a constant phrase I use as I see people destroy property. Also, people have jokingly made fun of my schizophrenia as "Must have been the paint fumes," which infuriates me to no end.

That’s awful! I’m sorry.

Painting and dry walling is hard work and essential. I couldn’t do it.

Hugs Job, sorry you’re dealing with such unenlightened people. My dad was a blue collar worker, something called a millwright....so I’ve always been open to people from different backgrounds. When it comes to philosophy you know more than 99% of everyone. I hope you find someone who appreciates you for you...hugs.

My mom worked like retail and cooking and cleaning jobs before she had to go on disability because of chronic pain conditions. She worked too hard.

Don’t work too hard, Job! Work smart!

I am so sorry, Job. Mean people suck. Painting obviously requires years and years to learn how to do properly, anyone with half a brain knows this. It si a serious set of skills and knowledge. I am sure you are an outstanding painter. I have a friend with schizophrenia who has a commercial painting business. He is an awesome person, really love him. He hs helped me a lot. Anyway, he is super good at what he does and his business has really done well for him. He is very sweet and qutie funny. I am sure he has been discriminated against, but he is just a very postiive person who does not let the haters get to him for some reason. He is really special. And you are, too!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I need help. I need help turning my writing into a business. Not advice on how to be profitable but advice on how to actually establish it as a recognized business.

Usually you don’t need to worry about that until you make enough money to have to pay taxes.....

There, at least in Colorado, is a really easy way online to make yourself into an LLC or whatever you want, but I think that doesn't really matter unless you're like a multiple-person business because it shields liability in some way if you have a business.

You could make a trade name. I made that a while back for my DJ business, haha. It was just like 20 dollars or something in the state of Colorado to file a trade name. Making a trade name would probably be the best option, but if you don't care, it's not really necessary. I don't really know the legal implications of this.

Thanks for this! I’m not aware of there being trade names for that sort of thing in Texas but an LLC in Texas is 300 to start it.

Are you sure it’s enough though? I mean my sisters business she just paid taxes based on estimated earnings the first year and had to pay a tax guy after that. I don’t think you have to have an llc or whatever until you’re way high in earnings. She makes like $20,000 a year on her business, also she started in Texas but isn’t there now....in contrast my cousins wife uses the family soap recipe for her business and makes well more than her Doctor hubs and employs like 10 people, that’s when you need to become a business.

I see ok! That actually makes me feel a bit better. Cuz I don’t wanna like cheat on my taxes or anything. I wanna be a responsible citizen. I have a optimistic belief that my writing business will likely boom within a year to 2 years tho! Roll Call 169!!

I think what I’m gonna do is make a business website. Specifically for finding writing gigs and connect it to my LinkedIn etc since I’ve been getting more and more.

You do have to pay taxes though, so save up because it’s like a third of what you earn...if you make enough to count, or combine with a job.
