I have a belief that Schizophrenia/Psychosis can be cured by Orthomolecular Medicine, which is a term coined by two-time nobel laureate Linus Pauling. I believe that the answer is simple. Just eat healthy, and the problem will go away. I remember telling one of my therapists that I can cure my Schizophrenia, which is my diagnosis, by eating only vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, and naturally gluten-free whole grains - such as buckwheat, quinoa, and brown rice.
I was on this self-prescribed diet years ago, and it seemed like I was improving the longer I stayed on this diet. The therapist I was telling this to disagreed with me and said that Schizophrenia cannot be cured. Is she correct? Am I wrong? Perhaps. But my belief is still lingering. Is this a delusion? |

My understanding is that people can recover from psychosis and schizophrenia. I also think that what we eat can have a really big impact on our wellbeing. I think that probably recovery needs other things as well as healthy eating, (like maybe having supportive and caring people around),but we are all different.

I have Schizoaffective Disorder along with some other disorders. I will probably always have it and always have to take medication for it. I don't think it can be cured. I think it can be managed. But I'm no doctor. I'm just a regular person with a regular ole mind so who knows what is the truth and what isn't. Just my opinion. Wishing you well. HUG if wanted. Kit

How do you usually check whether your beliefs are delusional or not?

I was just wondering if my belief is delusional or not. I don't really have a system of checking whether my beliefs are delusional or not. I haven't really thought about it. I increased my antipsychotic medication somewhat recently, so maybe with time it will get better.
