I remember even seeing the "bugs" crawling under the skin of my hands and arms - They'd all go towards my back, and electrocute my spine.

This can happen especially with extreme stress. Easing stress is the best thing and good sleep every night + Some sort of antipsychotic can be important (Until possibly the stress goes away).

But I don't know much else about tactile hallucinations. I could be completely wrong. Hopefully someone else with this experience can help. Hugs.

They aren't real bugs though.. Remember that..

And in places/countries where it's warm, and there's lots of real bugs that CAN crawl on someone, it's more likely - Or if they've moved to a place where there aren't any/winter/fear of them happening in the spring + stress = Sensory deprivation of what it used to be, causing tactile hallucinations (I think.. I could be wrong..)

I sometimes get a crawling sensation near my elbow and wrist on my left arm. It feels like a bug is literally walking on my arm hairs. I think it is related to ulnar neuropathy.

Can this be a medication side effect?

I felt that alot years ago. Its gotten better since I realized that my therapist was right about me having sensory issues. Certain textures and sensations trigger it. I have found the worst two are money and wind on my skin. Having my finger tips rubbed... touching something dry with dry hands. Just typing this is making me feel the bug crawling sensation actually. Sand paper. My nails touching metal. The feeling of air dried bath towels. Touching a shower rug. Dryer lint. Ive learned to avoid these things and many many more things that trigger a crawling bug reaction.
