I hear voices that constently tell me what to do. At first they were very helpful, helping me think up ideas for projects and helping me through difficult times, but now there just bothersome, and there starting to take over it seems. What should I do?

Welcome to our Schizophrenia and Psychosis Support Forum!

I just wanted to welcome you to PC!

I have very little knowledge in this area and I wanted you to know that this forum tends to be a little slower. So if no one answers right away, feel free to post in other forums if you'd like.

There's lots of good reading here too!

I have a family member who is under court order to find a job and treat his parnoid behavior. He found a job and has done very well at it, but he avoids going to a doctor an taking medication. Instead, he relentlessly spends his off time tring to find "proof" his illusion is real. If he fails to follow the court order he could very well be placed in jail. There seems to be no way to persuade him.

and exactly what harm is this doing anyone? after all, people do this all the time and call it religion.

as long as he is not harming himself or anyone else by his pursuits, he has the right to them. if you or others find him annoying, well, so be it -- some of us find the oh-so-socially-acceptable football and celebrity obsessions vacuous, stupid and annoying too. Hey Doc John, I'm very concerned about my physical health,
is there some reason for this? I mean really concerned, but
I seem unable to relate this to my T and my friends because
they don't want to talk to me on this subject. I suppose I'm
to myself alot and slightly isolated. Can you give some feedback on my predicament. thanks.

Yes I to take Zoloft for my Over Compulsive Disorder and flash backs of what happen to me in the past. I also have tried Abilify because of the problems of being depressed that I can get very sad and lonely. I feel rejected and not accepted by people and lose my moods and get angry of what happen to me in High School I was never invited to a party or a dances because my Father was a scoorge and a grouch and would not let me have any friends or dates. He was too close to me and I was his favorite and every body hated me because ot him. He was brutal and hit me with a belt. I was very depressed and could not talk about it. Thanks for this program. Dear MyJoyLove; These troubles can seem to hold
us prisoners within our private thoughts and can deeply
affect alot of the areas of personal and emotional growth.
Since our emotions had become underdeveloped we soon realized that in order to conform "fit in" our desire
to feel accepted then took on a much bigger emotional web.
We exchanged the friendship from what is was we had thought it should be to find out that the rules were not the same
for everyone. I'm stuck between me and the past. To move
on, oh ya, like from where??
Therefore it comes to a matter that we must define
ourselves in conjunction with how we perceive others and
to begin to understand most often we hide from others what
we need to show, by trust, by prayer, with humility and
in the grace of Jesus. Take care
DB

im new to this forum. i am bp 1 w/ psychosis. is anyone else bp like me? my hallucinations are sporadic and seem to happen when im under pressure. they used to be scary but lately they're comforting.
i went to a bp support group and no one had psychosis. i was embarrassed because they all seemed shocked when i talked about hallucinating. i assumed somebody there was like me.
i think the delusionals are more frequent with me although i don't recognize it until sometimes years later i'll remember something and realize i wasn't thinking clearly.

Hello DocJohn, I see other members have posted their symptoms so I'll post some of mine. The list of symptoms I think would contain some, well, disturbing content, so those I won't include in here. The rest, I will, so here goes:

- numerous voices, sometimes they argue with themselves and I'm not involved, other times they tell me what to do, comment on things or insult me.
- things deform then either attack me or snap back to what they were. If I see a shadow or something dark, usually something transforms then attacks me. Other times, when not in the dark, it still happens. Also, what tends to happen is I see everything shaking. I've asked others and they say I'm perfectly still, yet it still happens.
- this is rather new, and sometimes my mouth goes numb and i taste blood or metal. I check and there's no blood nor metal in my mouth. It goes numb sort of like when a dentist gives you the numbing stuff.
- I call them trances, different than the visual hallucinations. When this happens, I snap into my own world where I don't know where I am in the real world. I have no memory as to what I do during this nor for how long it lasts. According to others, I do talk yet talk differently and don't respond to my name.
- It feels as though sometimes, I'm coming out of my body and looking from a different view onto it. Sometimes, things seem to move slower.
- I have a need for control of others. This may be due to my father striving for control, however, he can relax, whereas I cannot. I get angry when I don't have the control I want. When I get some, I want more of it.
- I always feel irritated and I'm not sure why. I'm always edgy but for my life, I cant say why.
- Uncontrollable muscle spasms. I know everyone tends to get them, however, when the hallucinations kick in, these tend to occur very often. Sometimes it occurs so much I shake all over and stutter (I don't normally have a stutter).
- I guess this may go with the muscle spasms, but this is more like an uncontrollable contortion. It doesn't happen often but when it does, my body has bent in odd ways and I cant move. It only lasts a few seconds and there's no pain. Infact, I feel nothing. I cant feel any parts of my body until it releases me.

There are several other ones, all of which I think would be disturbing in some way so I'd rather not post them until I am approved to.
